WHAT IS SKIN FASTING ?

SKIN FASTING & WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR SKIN

Skin Fasting is a skincare trend that involves taking a break from using all or most skincare products—such as cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and treatments—for some time. The idea is to let your skin “reset” and allow its natural functions (like oil production and cell turnover) to rebalance without external interference.

Key Goals of Skin Fasting:

  1. Restore natural skin barrier function

  2. Encourage skin to regulate its own oil and hydration levels

  3. Identify product overuse or dependency

  4. Pinpoint irritants or unnecessary products in your routine

Types of Skin Fasting:

  • Full Fast: No skincare products at all—just water cleansing.

  • Partial Fast: Skipping certain steps like exfoliants, actives (e.g., retinol, acids), or even moisturizers

NOTE: Whichever type of fast you choose to do, never forget to use a good Face Sunscreen in the morning

Potential Benefits:

  • Reduced irritation or sensitivity

  • Fewer breakouts (if caused by overuse of products)

  • More balanced sebum production

  • Better understanding of what your skin truly needs

Cautions:

    • Dry, sensitive, or acne-prone skin

    • Skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis

    • Not ideal for everyone, especially those with:

  • May cause temporary dryness, flaking, or discomfort

Best Practice:

Try skin fasting for 1–3 days, monitor how your skin reacts, and reintroduce products gradually. Focus on essentials only: gentle cleansing, sunscreen, and hydration if needed.

There you have it; Happy SKIN FASTING!
